Where's Your Focus?

Happy Friday!

I hope you have had an amazing week so far and I pray that you will have a wonderful weekend. Speaking of “wonder", that is the next part of the message series I am sharing on Sunday at Faith. In this series, as we shared about being the light of the world, we have highlighted how miracles, signs, and wonders are an important part of being the light of this world. We have covered how you are a miracle, how you are a sign, and this Sunday we will dive into wonders. God is at work in all of our lives, let’s not miss it because our focus is in the wrong place.

During our online Midweek Bible Study, as we concluded our study on peace, I mentioned how the disciples were missing the miracle because of the storm. The boat was full of water, yet they didn’t sink. That’s a miracle! They panicked and questioned the care of Jesus. Never let the storms of life cause you to question the care and love of God.

Another time when the disciples were in a storm, Peter had the the faith and boldness to walk on the water to Jesus. When his focused shifted from Jesus to the wind and the waves, he began to sink. Answer this quick question below before I continue 👇🏾

Is it easier to walk on the water when the sea is calm or stormy?

Did you answer the question? What is easier? Did you catch that it was a trick question? Walking on the water the way Peter did was impossible without the supernatural help of God. The wind and the waves were irrelevant. Don’t irrelevant things steal your focus today. God is with you and He is helping you every single step of the way. This month we are reading through the Book of Acts. I want to point out something to you from yesterday’s reading.

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, "Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, "Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?" He replied, "The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Acts 1:4-8 (NLT)

Did you catch what Jesus did in this passage? He was telling the disciples about the power and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. They wanted to know the answer to the important eschatological questions of their day and culture. Jesus redirected their focus to the power of the Holy Spirit and their call to be witnesses. Today, I want to redirect your attention from the storms of life to the truth that the Holy Spirit is with you and He will help you.

Thank you for starting your day with Faith in the Morning. We love you and are praying for you. Have a miraculous day!
