Don’t Waste Your Imagination

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Good Morning,

Last year, I read a powerful quote about imagination that I want to share with you today. Walt Disney once said, “Worry is a waste of imagination.” Think about that.

When we worry, we use our imagination to think of negative future outcomes of present situations and circumstances. That’s not how we should use our imaginations. We should use our imaginations to meditate on the promises of God, His goodness, and His plan for our lives.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT) says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Today, when you’re tempted to worry, turn to faith-filled prayer instead. Acknowledge your worry, ask God for what you need, ask for His help, then thank Him for what He has done, is doing, and will do. After prayer, watch your thought life. Make sure you are only imagining things that align with Philippians 4:8. This strategy of prayer and managing your thought life leads you to a place of experiencing God’s peace as a lifestyle.

Say this with me today, “My God is the God of peace and He has peace for me today. I choose to cast my cares upon Him because He cares for me. Instead of worrying, I pray in faith and live a life of answered prayer. I am an overcomer. I overcome every problem by my faith in God. I am on the winning side and I refuse to quit or be defeated. Father, I pray that I may be filled with hope, all joy and peace in believing. I thank you for giving me the victory in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Have a great day!
