Where Does Your Patience Come From?

“strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;”

Colossians 1:11 (NKJV)

Good Morning!

As of this Spring, the Faith in the Morning podcast devotional has been streaming for four years. In just a few short weeks, we will stream our 1,000th episode! As we go beyond 1,000, I created a one minute to survey to help us learn more about how you access the Faith in the Morning devotional and newsletter. Can you fill out this quick survey for me? If you complete the survey, you will be entered into a special giveaway that is connected to our 1000th episode! Thank you for filling out the survey and helping us take Faith in the Morning into the future!

Where does your patience come from? Let’s be honest. If the only source of our patience was how we felt, if we had eaten recently, if we did everything we wanted to, and was based on how much sleep we had, our patience would rise and fall like an epic rollercoaster. However, God wants our patience to have stability.

During our podcast devotional this week, we have referred to patience as supernatural endurance and perseverance. The source of this supernatural endurance and perseverance is the strength of the Almighty God. Spending time with Him enables us to tap into His strength. As you go through this day, take time during lunch and breaks to pray and talk with Him. As you continually do this, stress will lift and strength will build.

Let’s pray the Colossians 1 prayer together today. Pray this prayer with me, “Father, I pray that you will fill me with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; so that I might walk worthy of you, Lord, unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of you, strengthened with all might, according to your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy. Father, I give you thanks for enabling me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light: you have delivered me from the power of darkness, and have translated me into the kingdom of Your dear Son: In Jesus I have redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of sins. I thank you for these things in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
